CERA bulletins were produced in limited quantities--particularly the earlier ones-- so that some of the more desirable ones often command premium prices.

If you are interested in purchasing one or more out-of-print CERA bulletins, you have several options:

You can write to one or more of the following collector/dealers. They might have the bulletin you want, or if not, they might be able to obtain it for you.

They are:

Chicagoland Hobby 6017 Northwest Hwy. Chicago IL 60631
Kevin T. Farrell P.O. Box 209 Back Bay Annex Boston MA 02117
Stanford Nettis 2309 W. Morse Av Chicago IL 60645
Doug Wornom 1251 Ashland Av River Forest IL 60305

You might also try writing to the Illinois Railway Museum P.O. Box 427 Union IL 60180 Attn: Barbara Lamphier. The museum often receives donations of books, CERA bulletins among them, that duplicate books in their collection.

An alternative is to attempt to win the bulletin(s) you want at auction on www.ebay.com. A number of such bulletins are offered for bid from time to time. There are several search terms you might use to find these bulletins, e.g., TROLLEY, TROLLEYS, INTERURBAN; however, probably the best term to use is CERA. If you enter CERA you may well get a number of items that are not relevant, but you should find all CERA bulletins up for auction at the time you make your search. We've found that most sellers enter the term in their description of the item. Before you make your search, be sure to check the box that will also search in the description category. If you don't, the search will be only of the words in the title category, which are far fewer and you will probably miss some. To maximize the search, you might also want to make another search using the words CENTRAL ELECTRIC RAILFAN. Of course, if you want just a particular title, you can just use key words in the title.

You can also go to www.booksearch.com and fill out a search request form for the particular title you want.

You may also search at Alibris Books, a website that consolidates many independent bookstores into a single search engine to search by title, author, or subject. They can be found at www.alibris.com.

Still another alternative is to check the want ads (both classified and display) in TRAINS or other railfan magazines. They may reveal additional sources to which you might write with your request.
