Several books are in various stages of development.
Chicago and Milwaukee Electric
CERA member Ed Tobin is in the process of writing a book on the early development of the North Shore Line--before 1916. CERA is in the early stages of discussion with him about issuing the book as a CERA bulletin.
Streetcars in Streetscapes: Chicago Streetcars in the Neighborhoods
CERA member Jeff Wien is spearheading a project that is in the early photo selection stage of producing a full color photo book of Chicago's streetcars in the various neighborhoods along with photos of various artifacts relating to the Chicago Streetcar. This will not go in deep into the history, it wil be more of a full color pictorial.
Previous releases:
This 224 page book authored by Ronald DeGraw was mailed in October 2007 for persons who were members in calendar year 2006. The book was added to the online catalog on November 1st.
Bulletin #139 The Shore Line Electric Railway Company
This 168 page book authored by O.R. Cummings was mailed in September 2007 to persons who were members in calendar year 2005. The book was added to the online catalog on September 1st.
Bulletin #138 Chicago & West Towns Railway
This 250 page book authored by James Buckley and edited by Richard W Aaron was mailed the end of April 2007 to persons who were members in calendar year 2004. [Note: this is a reversal of the previous Board decision to establish it as a 2-year book.] A total of 2,500 were printed.
