In November 2006, members of CERA's board met with members from other local transit groups to discuss the possibility of jointly putting long out-of-print material online as a resource to railfans and the general public. While the joint project didn't pan out, CERA's board approved a pilot conversion of one of the older CERA bulletins to PDF.
The result of that conversion (Bulletin #91: Indiana Railroad System) was presented as the inaugural entry in CERA's Digital Bulletin Archive Project. The full scope of the Digital Bulletin Archive is yet to be determined though the current plans are convert each of the early black and white bulletins going back to Bulletin #1. No Bulletin that is still in-print will be posted to the archive.
Each of bulletins will be scanned, the scans cleaned up and then converted into Adobe's PDF format. The PDFs will be indexed for text searching and optimized for on-screen viewing and home printing.
The PDFs will require Adobe's Reader (version 6 or later) or another application that can read PDF files.
